Stuart Scott Bell - Midnight in Harlem (Tedeschi Trucks Band cover) - live in Dothan, Alabama
5 THE PLANT
It's always a treat to discover new talented musicians like @StuartScottBell. She opened for @thecastellows at their Homecoming show in Dothan. I recorded a few songs but if I knew what we were in for I would have recorded her whole set. If you like this - of course you do - then check out her sweet Angel From Montgomery cover as well: • Stuart Bell - Angel From Montgomery - The ...
Stuart Bell has such a soulful, amazing voice. Right? A great opening set! And oh boy!!! Her guitarist Nick was TOTALLY in the zone too - ENDLESS sweet, tasty riffs in all the right places. A symphony of swells and solos. MUAH!!! Bravo Nick Blackwell! His deets: / nickblackwellmusic
You know how the internet works right? You start trying to figure out what songs a "new to you" artist sings and then you go down a rabbit hole :) As I've said on this channel before that always happened to me with @thecastellows country songs - why? - cause I am (was?) a simple city rock guy :) For this song's rabbit hole I got to learn about Tedeschi Trucks Band when documenting Stuart's video. She says they have been a big influence on her in an interview where she also plays her song Colorado • Spicer's Live: Acoustic Room Sessions - St... .. and darn, I'm on the road when Tedeschi plays Toronto in September.
Keep up with Stuart Bell, or Stuart Scott Bell (I see both) - certainly she is a future star in the making - she it a natural performer on stage, so poised IMHO: / stuartscottbellmusic
Enjoy!!
PS - Fun fact. I actually do shoulder exercises before concert trips so I can hold my phone steady :) You're welcome! I zoomed in for a couple of Stuart's songs like this. Of course my record holding a phone a a show was 2 whole hours of Green Day at Osheaga (seriously: • Green Day Dookie, American Idiot - Full Sh... I needed a massage after that). Next time I see Stuart play I'll also record her whole show too .. promise! I bought a new DJI camera for the main show so I can record longer (cause the heat melted the Pixel Pro when recording in 4K (see the initial glitchy songs at The Castellows in Clay County)). But the Pixel phone was fine for a few songs .. even in this Alabama heat. And the lighting was perfect when the clouds cleared. And there was even a light breeze, making this look like a real produced video :)
PPS - days and hours before this show bad weather was forecasted. Waa waa!! It was going to be heavy rain and lightning during this show. That's a REAL drag when you come all the way from Toronto for a show!!! Right? But 'someone' ALWAYS looks out for Castellows fans and shows (in Malone, NOLA, Dothan) and rain ALWAYS stops in time for the show or just holds off :) But as you can see it cleared in Dothan for us fans, just in time for Stuart's spectacular sunny soulful set. That's a sign.
PPPS - maybe we'll see Stuart opening for The Castellows again .. honorary 4th Balkcom sister. Fingers crossed.
