Born into a Catholic family, Sister Angelie Manalang wasn't fond of going to church. Ambitious and driven, she went to college to become a dentist. However, a year before even graduating, she began to wonder, "What is there after all this?"

After earning her degree, she built a successful career and started a family abroad. When they returned to the Philippines, her husband began reading the Bible and encouraged her to watch the televangelical program Ang Dating Daan. God had a plan for her; the biblical doctrines preached by Brother Eli Soriano resonated deeply, calling to her until she was eventually moved to be baptized.

Her new faith would bring hardships, including persecution from her own family.
