Daenan Gyimah | Spike 382cm | Monster of the Vertical Jump | VNL 2025. Daenan Gyimah is a Canadian volleyball player born on January 16, 1998, in Scarborough, Ontario. He stands around two meters tall, with a spike reach of 380 centimeters and a block reach of 339 centimeters.

He studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he became one of the most dominant middle blockers in the history of the UCLA Bruins men’s volleyball program. In his freshman year in 2017, he led the team in hitting percentage, earned a spot on the All-MPSF Freshman Team, and delivered several double-digit kill performances.

In 2018, he started every match, led the nation in hitting percentage at approximately .528, won the Ryan Millar Award as the top middle attacker, and earned First-Team AVCA and VolleyMob All-America honors. In 2019, he maintained his elite form by ranking among the top five nationally in hitting percentage, setting a UCLA single-match record of .917, and once again claiming AVCA First-Team All-America recognition along with another Ryan Millar Award.

His 2020 season was equally strong, with a hitting percentage of .492 that placed him sixth in the nation, and he graduated holding the best career hitting percentage in UCLA history at about .483.

On the international stage, Gyimah represented Canada at the 2017 FIVB U21 World Championship and later joined the senior national team for competitions such as the 2019 Volleyball Nations League.

In the 2025 VNL, he scored a total of 60 points, averaging five per match, with 40 coming from attacks at an efficiency rate of around 61.5 percent, 16 from blocks with an 18.6 percent success rate, and four from serves with a success rate of about 5.6 percent.

After his college career, Gyimah played professionally in Europe, with his most recent club being Arago de Sète in France, though some reports suggest he also had stints in Finland and possibly Poland. Volleyball fans recall that he took time away from the sport to focus on music before returning to professional play, a move that reflects his creative interests beyond the court. His combination of athleticism, technical skill, and versatility has made him one of Canada’s standout middle blockers of his generation.
