Join us on a journey back in time to the 15th century as we explore the iconic Fatih Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey. Commissioned by Mehmed the Conqueror, the mosque was built on the site of the Havariyun Church, a Byzantine-era landmark. Its construction began in 1462 and was completed in 1470, making it one of the oldest and most historically significant mosques in Istanbul.

Inside, the mosque is a treasure trove of Ottoman architecture and design, with granite and marble used extensively in its construction. Visitors can also pay their respects at the graves of prominent Ottoman figures, including Mehmed the Conqueror himself.

The mosque has also played a significant role in Turkey's history, with the first Turkish-language ezan, or call to prayer, being recited from its minarets in 1932. Despite suffering damage from an earthquake in 1766, the mosque was repaired and restored to its original grandeur by 1771. More recently, it underwent a thorough restoration in 2008 and reopened to worshippers in 2012. Come with us and explore the rich history and stunning architecture of the Fatih Mosque.
