The Art of Incense
As part of the "Luhua Nongshen, Aesthetic Life of the Tang Dynasty" exhibition, our exploration of traditional 香道 (incense ceremony) was truly unforgettable.
We learned the graceful ritual of walking with incense in hand, we also experienced a variety of traditional incense types: from the deep, calming aroma of agarwood to the light, refined scent of sandalwood.
One of the most fascinating parts? Getting up close with the tools of the incense ritual—delicate burners, elegant incense holders, and finely crafted utensils. Each object was a piece of art, blending utility and beauty in perfect harmony.
This wasn’t just a sensory experience, it was a meditative journey that brought us closer to the soul of traditional Chinese culture. Huge thanks to Fengxian Museum for this beautiful cultural moment.
