Mushroom Crabwich (1958) on Sandwiches of History

You’ll never guess what the two main ingredients are in the Mushroom Crabwich from Good Housekeeping Book of Breads and Sandwiches of 1958…what’s that, you guessed mushrooms and crab? Dang it, you’re good! I know many of you are going to recoil at the use of canned mushrooms but to be fair, fresh mushrooms like we see in grocery stores today didn’t start showing up until the maybe the 1970s? It just wasn’t a thing. Oddly enough, it’s not the bland canned mushrooms that kind dampen the possibilities of this “sandwich.”
