English Countryside Charm | Flea Market Finds | Baking Nostalgic British Cake
🌿 A Slow Day in the English Countryside | Flea Market, Bruton & Peach Upside-Down Cake 🇬🇧🍑
If you're in need of a quiet moment to escape the rush of everyday life, this vlog is your little corner of calm. Join me for a peaceful day in the English countryside — where joy is found in the simple things: a bunch of fresh flowers, the charm of rural villages, and a comforting bake that stirs up fond memories.
We begin by arranging a simple bouquet — because it’s often the little details that bring the most happiness — and then head off to Shepton Mallet, home to the Giant Flea Market, a must-visit if you love vintage or antiques. Nestled in the heart of Somerset, it’s the perfect way to spend a summer morning before exploring one of the nearby villages.
Later, we visit the historic town of Bruton, full of character, stone cottages, and quiet corners steeped in history. We also discover some delicious local cheeses like Rachel and Westcombe Red, and pick up quince paste, olives, and a little chorizo — the makings of a simple Spanish-style picnic board.
Back home, I bake a nostalgic favourite — a Peach Upside-Down Cake — with my own little twist. Though the recipe has American roots, it’s been lovingly embraced by many British homes and always reminds me of stories shared around the table.
☕ So pop the kettle on, get cosy in your favourite spot, and spend a slow day with me — soaking up the beauty of quiet living, home cooking, and the gentle rhythm of the English countryside.
