Almost every Christmas story talks about a chubby old man from the North Pole who slides down chimneys to make sure that good kids around the world get their presents every year. The story has been heard so often that it’s difficult to not associate the man in red with the ventilation structure.

This story, however, is a bit different from those you’ve heard before. In the small town of Dinwiddie County, Virginia, there was something strange going on with one resident’s chimney, and it didn’t involve Santa, his elves, or anything to do with holiday cheer. One family reported hearing strange noises coming from their chimney, but no one knew exactly what was causing it. Once authorities arrived on the scene, they were surprised by what they found.
