Jacinto Codina Marfá
(Moià, nr Barcelona, c.1770 - Madrid, 2 August 1818)
Spanish organist and composer. Few details are known of his life. At the age of fifteen, he was appointed organist of the former collegiate church of Calaf and later became the organist at the collegiate church of Santa Ana in Barcelona. By the last decade of the 18th century, he was active in Madrid performing as a pianist in public theaters. It was also during this period that he came into contact with Prince Louis of Bourbon-Parma to whom he dedicated his Piano Concerto. In 1814, he was appointed chamber musician to Ferdinand VII in a post he held the rest of his life. As a composer, his known output is limited. Only a few works have been recovered, among them, piano pieces and the mentioned Piano Concerto which was highly praised when it was performed during the late 18th century.
