How to Form the Passé Composé:

The passé composé is built from two parts:

An auxiliary verb (avoir or être) conjugated in the present tense

The past participle (participe passé) of the main verb

Most verbs use avoir as their auxiliary, but verbs of movement and all reflexive verbs use être. When using être, the past participle agrees in gender and number with the subject. The feminine marker (e) and plural marker (s) are added accordingly.

Special Feature: Color Coding for Better Learning

To make conjugation and grammar rules even more memorable, this video uses a color-coded system:

Orange for the past participle (participe passé)

Dark blue for the auxiliary verb avoir

Purple for the auxiliary verb être

Red for the feminine marker (e)

Green for the plural marker (s)

This color-coding helps you instantly recognize the crucial elements of each verb form and remember the rules more effectively!

This video is ideal for all learners—children, adults, and teachers who want to teach the passé composé to their students. It’s designed to boost your speaking skills and deepen your understanding of French third group verbs in the past tense.
