Analysis of Starship flight 9 Explosion Data revealed-Something weird happening...Elon Musk
1.5 billion dollars — that’s how much NASA had to spend on each flight to maintain the Space Shuttle program. However, if Starship succeeds, Elon Musk could slash that massive cost down to just 2–3 million dollars per flight. And not only does Starship match the Shuttle’s capabilities, it’s also far more advanced in terms of design and technology.
But in its most recent flight, Starship once again experienced an explosion, highlighting the many technical challenges that have yet to be fully resolved.
Today on Alpha Tech, let’s dive into a detailed analysis of Starship Flight 9, examining the unusual signs that were observed as well as the official information released by SpaceX and Elon Musk himself.

SpaceX made some progress during the test flight of the world’s most powerful rocket on Tuesday, finally overcoming several technical issues that had plagued the previous two launches in the program. However, the final outcome was still beyond control when the rocket unexpectedly began tumbling and had to initiate a landing before completing its planned trajectory.
By closely following SpaceX’s live broadcast, we can notice some new anomalies with Starship in this launch.
The first issue appeared right at liftoff.
If you were too caught up in the excitement of seeing Starship take off, you might have missed a subtle but potentially critical detail, a problem with one of Super Heavy’s Raptor engines.

In the very first seconds after liftoff, you can spot a distinct green exhaust plume coming from the outer edge of the booster.

A green flash in the rocket exhaust often points to an abnormal combustion event. This could be caused by copper from engine components such as the combustion chamber or nozzle, burning and producing green light when oxidized. It might indicate a brief malfunction, such as an incorrect fuel-to-oxidizer ratio, injector failure, or material wear in one of the outer Raptor engines.

Some speculate that the engines might have struck the launch mount forcefully during the tilt maneuver a crucial action performed a few seconds after takeoff as the rocket begins to lean into its flight path. Although SpaceX has not officially addressed this, we can't rule out the possibility that this issue may have contributed to the mid-air explosion of Booster 14.
