Surviving the Deadliest Road in the World & Amazon Adventure - Overlanding Bolivia (PanAm Ep.11)
Join us on this thrilling overlanding adventure as we tackle Bolivia's rugged terrain, discover remote camping spots, and navigate the infamous Yungas Road! Our journey begins with a peaceful night camping by a riverbed, where we stumbled upon ancient ruins. The next day, we explored a local market, stocking up on fresh, exotic fruits and veggies for our road trip, and getting excited about the variety we’ve encountered along the way.
We then set off on a breathtaking Amazon riverboat adventure, where we cruised along the river in an authentic overland style. Our captain, Julio, showed off some incredible river navigation skills as we worked our way to an awesome jungle trek! The journey was an epic reminder of why overlanding is the best way to explore remote places.
Then came the real challenge: the Yungas Road, or as it's known, the "Death Road." A legendary overland route, this narrow, treacherous path connects La Paz with the Amazon Rainforest. With sheer cliffs, crumbling tracks, and the constant threat of mudslides, driving here is no easy feat – especially during the wet season. But the views were worth every nerve-wracking second, winding through cloud forests, towering waterfalls, and jaw-dropping scenery; a real highlight of our Pan-American adventure.
Driving the Yungas was one of the most epic and scenic overland experiences we’ve ever had. We couldn't capture the full scale of the drops, but trust us – it was the sketchiest (and most memorable) drive of our road trip so far. There were moments when the road was so narrow, we just had to hold our breath and hope we didn't meet another vehicle!
Don’t miss the next leg of our overlanding journey, where we’ll explore the vibrant city of La Paz, transport Yak across the stunning Lake Titicaca, and hike across a remote island! Subscribe and hit the bell to join us on more epic overland road trips and camping adventures!
