This is a video that explores the life and art of Michelangelo Buonarroti, an Italian Renaissance artist. He created both paintings and sculptures. Some of his most well known works are The David, The Pieta (Pity), The Sistine Chapel Ceiling, The Last Judgement, and Moses with Horns. He was apprenticed in the workshop of Domenico Ghirlandaio. His work was encouraged by Lorenzo Medici and the Medici Family of Florence. His Biblical paintings on the Sistine Chapel Ceiling included scenes from the Book of Genesis, including the Creation of Adam, the Creation of Eve, and the Expulsion from the Garden of Eden. There are figure paintings of Jewish prophets, and pagan sibyls, who foretold the coming of Christ. It was commissioned by Pope Julius II. He also painted the Last Judgement, a fresco depicting the second coming of Christ. He sculpted in marble.
