What China just Did Shocked NASA...Never Done Before
Unbelievable! China’s latest moves are seriously threatening the U.S. space industry, leaving NASA completely stunned.
In just a few years, China’s space program has skyrocketed, launching rockets at an unprecedented pace and flexing their Tiangong space station as a bold rival to the U.S.
Now, they’ve taken it to the next level.
They unveiled plans to expand the Tiangong complex with a cutting-edge new module, and launched their latest crewed mission, Shenzhou-20, in a display of precision that echoes SpaceX’s Dragon missions.
So, how did China get this far?
Can they truly catch up to NASA or SpaceX?
Let’s dive into today’s episode of Alpha Tech.

You might not know this, but China is pushing its commercial space industry by following a path similar to Elon Musk’s SpaceX, aiming for faster innovation and closing the gap with the U.S.
At least six Chinese reusable rockets, inspired by Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy, have been in development since last year, with a big push to ramp up launches this year. Since 2024, the pace of progress has skyrocketed. Both government agencies and local authorities are strongly backing the rocket sector, pouring billions of dollars in funding to private companies.
Back in 2023, China’s space companies got about $1.12 billion in funding. But in 2024? That number shot up, almost tripled, hitting $2.84 billion. That’s a huge leap, and it really shows they’re all in on this space race.

But when it comes to spending big, China still has a long way to go. Just look at NASA, they gave SpaceX a $2.6 billion contract back in 2014 to develop the Dragon spacecraft, and another $4.2 billion to Boeing for the CST-100 Starliner.
That’s a whole different level of investment.
Because of their ambition to surpass the U.S., they’re speeding up their progress like crazy right now.
On April 30th, Wang Jue, a key figure from the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, shared some big news on China Central Television. He said, “According to the plan, the Long March 5B rocket will carry out future launches of crewed modules for the space station.”
