Beginner Ballet Lesson 21: Five Types of Arabesques & Promenade | Free Beginner Ballet Class
Welcome to Lesson 21 of this free online beginner ballet class! In this class, we will explore the elegance of arabesques (how to do first arabesque, second arabesque, third arabesque, fourth arabesque, and the Italian style third arabesque) and the grace of a promenade. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your technique, this class is perfect for you.
We'll begin by delving into different arabesque positions. First, there's 1st Arabesque, where the working leg is open and in front of the supporting leg, with an elegant arm position. Then, we'll move on to 2nd Arabesque, which has a similar leg position but a different arm placement. Next is 3rd Arabesque, where the working leg is crossed behind, and 4th Arabesque, featuring a tilted back head position.
Additionally, we'll explore 3rd Arabesque in the Cecchetti style, which offers a unique arm positioning.
To add a delightful connecting movement to your ballet journey, we'll incorporate a promenade. Pronounced "proh-muh-NAHD," this movement is akin to a stroll and involves turning gracefully on the standing leg. It can be done in various positions, such as attitude, arabesque, and passé.
Our combination for this class will be set to beautiful cello music, drawing inspiration from the arabesques and promenade we've learned.
