
How Real Estate Tycoon Don Peebles Built Generational Wealth Forbes Talks
Don Peebles is founder and CEO of Peebles Corporation, the largest Black-owned real estate development company. The son of an auto mechanic, Peebles was raised in Washington D.C. by his mother, a secretary turned real estate broker. In 1983, he founded the Peebles Corporation, running the company while also working for then-Washington D.C. Mayor Marion Barry in the city’s property tax office.
