Exploring Conic Sections with Sketchpad: Sketchpad Webinar

This Sketchpad webinar will introduce you to interactive models of physical devices that draw ellipses. In particular, we'll examine the linkages of 17th century mathematician Frans van Schooten and recreate his linkages as animated Sketchpad constructions.We'll prove that our constructions draw ellipses using nothing more than elementary geometry.
