The project, "Luz House," presented iHouse estudio with a fascinating departure from their typical prefabricated modular designs. The client's request was a permanent family residence nestled within the heritage district of Carrasco, Montevideo, a challenge that immediately sparked their interest. This wasn't just another house; it was a return to traditional on-site construction, demanding a single-level dwelling encompassing four bedrooms, an office, a gym, and a playroom, all while maintaining strict privacy and security. The client also desired a distinct separation between the private bedroom wing and the social areas, with ample natural light and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. The studio embraced the opportunity to reinvent the prevailing modern estate aesthetic within this established garden neighborhood.

The design unfolded on a 1036m2 plot, facing north and bordered by diverse architectural styles. iHouse estudio maximized the land's potential by creating two distinct strips. The western strip, stretching along the length of the property, housed the private quarters, including bedrooms and bathrooms, ensuring a secluded retreat. The second strip, serving as the social hub and access point, flowed seamlessly into a loggia of patios and skylights, flooding the expansive social area with natural light and forging a strong link with the outdoors. A large, glazed barbecue area at the rear accommodated the gym and playroom, extending the living space and supporting outdoor activities. This careful division of space ensured both functionality and a sense of openness, fulfilling the client's desire for a balance between privacy and social interaction.
