The soul of Giarò creations
In the picturesque village of Cison di Valmarino, nestled among the hills of Treviso province, one of the most anticipated events in the region takes place annually: "Artigianato Vivo" (Living Craftsmanship) and, during the Christmas season, the magical event "Stelle di Natale" (Christmas Stars).
"Artigianato Vivo" transforms the ancient streets of the village into an open-air museum, where over 200 artisans from every region of Italy display their creations. From Sicily to Trentino, from Sardinia to Friuli, master craftsmen bring their unique traditions: Apulian ceramists, Tuscan wood carvers, Venetian weavers, and Lombard goldsmiths alternate along the exhibition route, showcasing techniques handed down through generations.
This event, which now boasts a decades-long tradition having reached its 42nd edition, annually attracts up to 500,000 visitors, transforming the small village of just 2,500 inhabitants into a vibrant cultural center. Tourists and art enthusiasts come not only from neighboring provinces but also from abroad, drawn by the opportunity to observe artisans at work and purchase unique pieces directly from their creators.
During the Christmas period, "Stelle di Natale" wraps Cison in a fairy-tale atmosphere. The historic houses in the center are illuminated with traditional decorations while approximately 80 artisans specialized in Christmas creations animate the market.
The published video captures the soul and spirit of the creations by Giarò Creazioni, one of the talented exhibitors we had the pleasure of meeting during the latest edition of "Stelle di Natale." The film captures the essence of her craftsmanship and the passion she infuses into each of her works.
Both events represent not only an important showcase for Italian craftsmanship but also a fundamental economic driver for the territory, celebrating the richness of Italian artisanal traditions in one of the most beautiful villages in Veneto.
