Droneship Landing Problem! New Glenn DELAYED Again, Can't Launch before SpaceX...
After years of delays, Blue Origin’s New Glenn continues to...delay! Elon Musk laughs.
"" our mascot is the tortoise because we believe uh slow is smooth and smooth is fast"" (0:28 - 0:34)
It's safe to say Jeff Bezos has thoroughly embraced this philosophy as he develops the New Glenn rocket, believing that sometimes, slow and steady wins the race.
However, he seems to have gone too far, as his rocket, after years of delays, continues to be delayed.
With that said, the dream of launching New Glenn to catch up with SpaceX's Starship this month appears further away than ever.
In today’s episode, we’ll dive into the latest updates surrounding New Glenn's first launch, its significance for national security missions, and how this ambitious rocket aims to compete in a rapidly evolving space race. Will Blue Origin’s meticulous approach pay off, or will it fall behind as SpaceX continues to push boundaries?
Join us as we explore everything you need to know about this pivotal moment in space exploration!

In early 2025, the space community is buzzing with excitement as the launch dates for Blue Origin's New Glenn and SpaceX's Starship, but it’s turning into quite the nail-biter! Both rockets were initially set to blast off on January 10, 2025, making it a monumental day for space enthusiasts. However, SpaceX's Elon Musk threw a curveball by announcing that Starship's Flight 7 won't happen before Monday, January 13, giving New Glenn a slight edge. But wait—there’s more!
Droneship Landing Problem! New Glenn DELAYED Again, Can't Launch before SpaceX...
New Glenn is now officially slipped to at least Sunday, January 12 due to a high sea state in the Atlantic where Blue Origin hopes to land its booster, the company wrote on X. SLD 45’s forecast also points out that the risk for offshore landing weather will be moderate to high on both the launch date of January 10th and the two following days. So, it's highly likely that NG-1 could push further. With that said, the gap between New Glenn's maiden launch, aka NG-1, and Starship Flight 7 will be gradually leveled. Or even Starship would just swoop in and take the spotlight after all.
So, as we gear up for this cosmic showdown, one can’t help but wonder: will the tortoise triumph in this real-life race against the speedy hare, or will unforeseen hurdles keep Blue Origin from crossing the finish line first? The countdown is on!
