The kids doing the Irish Dance at St Patrick's Day in Munich are so cute #StPatrick'sDay #dance #Munich #tourism
The Irish national holiday, St. Patrick's Day, is celebrated not only on the island, but worldwide. The St. Patrick's Day Parade was first held in Munich in 1996, organized by a few Irish people and friends in Munich. The event was planned for 200 people, but 3,000 turned up! After that, it was clear: the parade honoring the Irish national saint would become a tradition.
Now, many clubs and, as ever, exclusively volunteers help with the organization: from inviting parade participants and guests of honor to setting up the stands and stages and catering, as well as electricity, water, toilets, and waste disposal. Everything has to be considered for such a mass event. After the German-Irish Friends of Bavaria held the primary coordination role for years, the participating clubs joined forces in 2015 under the umbrella organization Munich Irish Network e.V. and formed a parade committee.
