
China suspends issuance of regular passports, why? Large number of Chinese students rush to the U.S.
On August 4th, the joint prevention and control mechanism of the Chinese State Council announced that the issuance of regular passports and other travel documents would be suspended.
On August 15, a queue measuring thousands of meters at Shanghai Pudong Airport was seen with people waiting to check-in for their flights. One parent revealed that they waited in line from around 9 a.m. until around 1 p.m. to get their boarding passes. These were Chinese students who would be leaving for the United States.
