Ingredients for the Chicken Aloo Shorba Recipe :
Chicken, curry cut pieces with bones- 1 Kg
Potato cut into halves -4 medium sized potatoes
Tempering:
Green Cardamom-6
Cloves-6
Cinnamon- 3
Black cardamom-3
Spice Powders:
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder-2 tsp
Coriander powder- 2 tsp
Cumin powder-1 tsp
Kashmiri Chilli powder- 2 tsp
Garam Masala powder-3/4 tsp
Fried Onion-Curd Paste:
Fried onions- 4 small onions (200-220 gms of onions)
Curd/plain yogurt- 5-6 tbsp
Other Ingredients:
Ginger garlic paste-3 tsp
Green Chillies - 5-6
Coriander leaves chopped - 2 tbsp
Salt- 2 tsp
Oil-6 tbsp
Preparation:
Slice the onions and fry in oil till golden brown. Remove to a plate and allow to cool.
Now take a grinder and add the fried onions and the curd/yogurt. Blend it to a smooth paste.
Also chop the coriander leaves for garnish and set aside.
Process:
Heat oil in a pan and add the whole spices. Give a stir and add the ginger garlic paste.
Fry on low heat for around 2 mins and then add the chicken pieces and green chillies.
Give a stir and fry on medium heat for around 4-5 mins till browned.
Now add all the spice powders and salt, and fry on medium heat for 3-4 mins till browned.
Add the potato pieces and mix & cook for another 2-3 mins.
Now add the fried onion paste and mix and fry on medium heat for around 4 mins.
Now add around 350 ml water, and cover & cook on low heat for around 20 mins till both the chicken & potatoes are tender.
Add around 50-100 ml water based on the gravy consistency you require.
Now add the chopped coriander leaves & a pinch of salt.
Simmer for 2 mins & serve.
