In 2010, ocean explorer Tim Taylor launched the Lost 52 Project to locate these lost vessels. In 2019, after a decade of research, Taylor’s team uncovered the Grayback’s location, solving a 75-year-old mystery. The submarine had been lost after an attack in 1944, and its discovery provided closure to the families of the 80 sailors who perished.
