US Military's Biggest Helicopter: The CH-53K King Stallion

The CH-53K King Stallion represents a quantum leap in heavy-lift helicopter capabilities, emerging from a legacy that began with the CH-53 Sea Stallion in the 1960s. Developed by Sikorsky Aircraft (now part of Lockheed Martin), the King Stallion was conceived in response to the United States Marine Corps' need for a more powerful and capable heavy-lift helicopter to replace the aging CH-53E Super Stallion. The development program began in 2006, with the first flight taking place in 2015. Despite initial technical challenges and delays, the aircraft has evolved into what is now considered the most powerful helicopter in the Western world.
