One day, a little hungry mouse discovered a basket full of corn.

The opening was narrow, and he had to squeeze himself through the gaps between the strips of the basket. But the corn smelled so delicious that the mouse was determined to get inside.

Finally, he managed to crawl in and gorged himself until he was bursting. Indeed, he grew nearly three times as big around the middle as he had been when he first entered.

Satisfied, he tried to squeeze back out of the basket. But no matter how hard he struggled, he could only get his head out. There he sat, groaning and moaning, trapped by his own greed.

Just then, a passing weasel noticed him. Understanding the situation immediately, the weasel said:
"My friend, I see what you’ve been doing. You stuffed yourself, and now you must stay put until you shrink back to your original size. That’s what comes of greed. Good night—and good enough for you."

And that was all the sympathy the poor mouse received.

Moral: Greed can trap you in ways you never expect. Don’t let desire get the better of you.
