For thousands of years, Egypt was a powerhouse. Their mythology was incredibly detailed and their gods motivated almost every endeavor in the lives of the Egyptians. There is no way to fit the entire history of egyptian mythology into one video. Although, the Egyptian religion is generally known as being polytheistic, Egypt was the first civilization to try monotheism. It didn't work out well for them and it's not what people usually mean when they talk about Egyptian mythology. Our earliest text show about 200 gods, while later versions show about 500. Their pantheon of gods expanded so rapidly, that modern scholarship still has a tough time keeping up. But for today, we will cover the most popular myths that permeated the Egyptian religion. Let's begin from the beginning.
