Kiwi facts: New Zealand's flightless birds | Animal Fact Files
#animal #nature
Kiwi are flightless birds endemic to New Zealand. They are at risk of extinction, but current conservation efforts are helping to stabilize their populations. Kiwi are about the size of a chicken, but lay egg that make up 20% of their body mass! These little birds have strong feet they'll use to fight off intruders, including people! Kiwi chicks hatch fully developed, so kiwi parents don't have to feed them. These birds have become a national symbol of New Zealand.
