Protesting 25 years of oppression in China: Activities held in Indonesia and Japan
On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin, then General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), launched a crackdown on Falun Gong, a Buddhist spiritual practice.
Before this year's July 20 anniversary, Falun Gong practitioners in Indonesia, like their counterparts worldwide, organized rallies, parades, and candlelight vigils in cities such as Surabaya, Jakarta, and Bali. These events aimed to raise awareness and call for an end to the Chinese Communist Party's 25-year-long persecution of Falun Gong.
Falun Gong practitioners in Japan organized anti-persecution marches in Osaka and Kyoto, located in the Kansai region. They aimed to raise awareness and call for global efforts to stop the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong and the forced organ harvesting from living practitioners. Additionally, they urged the Japanese government to consider introducing legislation similar to the "Falun Gong Protection Act" recently passed by the U.S. House of Representatives to prevent CCP atrocities.
