About The Talk:
The talk describes the past, present, and future of Indian Agriculture. Ancient Indian Agricultural wisdom has been discussed by the renowned speaker. A very important branch of the Indian Knowledge System, Vriksha Ayurved has been discussed in detail. Various ancient methods for the sustainability and growth of crops have been discussed. These were a part of our ancient practices but the transition to modern agriculture practices made us devoid of the advantages of these ancient practices. While India met the food demands of the growing population through modern farming practices including the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, the quality of crops was compromised. According to the speaker, there is a need to incorporate ancient practices like Vriksha Ayurved into modern-age agriculture in India and promote research into the ancient agricultural wisdom of India. There is a vast scope in the Indic way of agriculture and the related wisdom.

About The Speaker:
Dr. S.P.S. Beniwal is the Chairman and Trustee of the Asian Agri-History Foundation (AAHF), Pantnagar. He has more than 40 years of experience in agricultural research, teaching, and agricultural development in South and Central Asia, East and North Africa, and the Middle East. He was also involved in project development, execution, monitoring, and evaluation. He has knowledge and experience in the application of Vrikshayurveda practices in field, vegetable, and plantation crops.
