Bikepacking Sri Lanka

In March 2024, we decided to bikepack Sri Lanka, using a route we found on Komoot as a guide. We found the people incredibly friendly, and the riding was good, but it was just too hot, with maximum temperatures of about 38 degrees Celcius.

Five days into our 2 week long trip, Laura ended up spending a day warded at the hospital in Wellawaya. Our bikepacking trip was over. We made plans to return to Singapore as soon as possible for further medical treatment, but had time to make a quick stop at Sigiriya as there was no immediate flight back.

We managed to see a lot in the week that we were in Sri Lanka. Next time, I’d definitely pick a cooler time of year to visit!
