The Plataea Survey – Update on Fieldwork - Dr Robert Jones. AAIA Public Lecture

Just prior to Covid-19 shutting down most of the world, the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports authorized an exciting fieldwork project focusing on the battlefield at Plataea in Boeotia, Greece. The successful non-invasive UAV mapping, geophysics, and surface surveys of 2018 made way for excavations beginning in 2019. This update on fieldwork will share some of the promising developments of the 2018/19 field seasons while teasing the future of the ongoing excavations at Plataea.

Dr Robert Jones lives in Tennessee (United States) with his wife, and daughter on a farm animal sanctuary. He currently owns and manages a veterinary clinic, two non-profits organizations, and an additional green business. He has a passion for ancient Greek military history, particularly the Greco-Persian Wars. Robert graduated with a Ph.D. in Classics from the University of Newcastle (Australia) in 2020.
