This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre on June 4, 1989. A series of commemorative activities have begun overseas.

Recently, He Xiaoqing, a historian studying June 4 and a former professor at Hong Kong Chinese University, mentioned in a dialogue at Georgetown University in the United States that people do not truly understand the nature of the Chinese Communist Party regime.

She said that when students took to the streets in 1989, they did not expect the Chinese Communist Party regime to use tanks, machine guns, and live ammunition to deal with unarmed students and civilians.
