‘Clare O’Neil has a stitch’: Dan Tehan slams minister for ‘running away' from press conferences
Shadow Immigration Minister Dan Tehan has slammed Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil for “running away" from two press conferences today, saying she “now has a stitch”.
Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil has accused the Opposition of playing politics after the Albanese government failed to secure emergency removal powers for non-citizens.
The Opposition and Greens in the Senate rejected the government’s urgency with the bill and referred the laws to a parliamentary inquiry for scrutiny.
“Clare O’Neil now has a stitch – she’s run away from two press conferences today and hasn’t been able to answer basic and simple questions,” Mr Tehan told Sky News Australia.
“And the most basic and simple question is why the rush, why the chaotic approach; why not take a considered approach and a methodical approach, especially when it’s about the number one priority of any government – keeping the Australian people safe.”
