相传在他五、六岁时，当时吴国孙权送了一头大象给曹操，曹操很高兴，接着突发奇想地想要知道这大象到底有多重，他问了在场所有臣子，但大家都不知道如何称量它的重量，因为那时候没有现代化的工具和设备。
可是，小小年纪的曹冲却想到了一个巧妙的方法！他建议把大象放到一艘船上，先在船身上划出水面的位置，然后让大象下船，接着命人搬来石头放在船上，直到水面的位置和刚才一样。最后将这些石头分批称重，然后将它们的重量相加，就等于大象的重量了。这种等量代换的方法真是聪明极了！曹操很高兴地采纳了曹冲的建议，最终成功地测出了大象的重量。

Our protagonist today is Cao Chong, the clever son of the Wei Dynasty hero Cao Cao. Cao Chong was a famous child prodigy who was kind, reasonable, and beloved by his father.
According to legend, when he was five or six years old, Sun Quan of Wu gave an elephant to Cao Cao, and Cao Cao was so happy that he suddenly wanted to know how much the elephant weighed, and he asked all the ministers present, but no one knew how to weigh it because there were no modern tools and equipment at that time.
However, the young Cao Chong came up with an ingenious method! He suggested to put the elephant on a boat, first scratch the water position on the hull, then let the elephant get off the boat, then ordered people to bring stones and put them on the boat until the water position was the same as just now. Finally the stones will be weighed in batches, and then add their weight, it is equal to the weight of the elephant.
This method of equivalent substitution was extremely clever! Cao Cao happily accepted Cao Chong's suggestion and successfully measured the weight of the elephant.
