Fuzhou 福州, "the city of the Banyan Tree", has started to grow banyan since the Tang dynasty. It was in Northern Song dynasty when the cultivating of which got the official advocate. The long history of banyan trees in the city has made it a symbol of Fuzhou, where you can find the oldest banyan tree from the city, supported by several columns and offering shades for locals.

福州素有“榕城”之称，自唐代起就开始种植榕树。到了北宋时期，其栽培才得到官方的提倡。榕树历史悠久，已成为福州的象征，在这里你可以找到福州最古老的榕树，由数根柱子支撑，为当地人提供荫凉。
