Saint Augustine of Hippo was a tireless seeker of truth. He felt in his heart an immense hunger for the truth and for happiness. And he sought the truth in the philosophers of his time and sought happiness in the pleasures of life, especially in carnal love. And he was not satisfied. In his heart there was a deep emptiness that did not let him rest in peace. He was not a man to be content with little. He was seeking fulfillment, seeking God without knowing it and only when he found Him, could he finally breathe and say "You made us Lord for You and our hearts are unsatisfied until they rest in You."
