We set out on a backcountry adventure in the Inyo National Forest to experience the Big Pine Lakes. We hiked up to about 10,500 feet altitude and spent the night. These pristine alpine lakes are breath-taking. This place is only 4 hours outside of Los Angeles, so it's a short distance to travel for some adventure. As part of the Eastern Sierras, the landscape is picturesque, dramatic and worth the 16 mile round trip hike.
