Viking Huntsman's Venison Stew | Viking Cooking | Tracking the Herd | Nordic Bushcraft
In this video, I'm tracking a herd of Red Deer in the wasteland on the west coast of Denmark by the North Sea. I prepare a meal of venison, bacon, onions, cabbage, stout, cottage cheese, and hard-boiled eggs. I headed to the swamp in search of wild birds. The hunter was out of luck today and it would probably be better if he took the time to make a bow - perhaps in a future video.
The authenticity of the Viking age and its stance on hikes like this is a relative matter. I try to bring in items that are primarily hand-crafted and may be directly related to or at least heavily inspired by archaeological finds from the viking era. Compromise must be made. The only items you see in this video are NOT made by me: Ax head, spear tip, small fireproof steel pouch, blade and handle, pots and pans, fireproof steel (Kim Holm Dragesmeden), cups /clay box and copper buttons on my kaftan.
