This was followed by a 10-day trip to Africa by U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on January 17th, 2023. This series of heavyweight diplomatic moves signal a renewed U.S. relationship with Africa, with the greatest force behind it being to counteract the Chinese Communist Party CCP’s penetration of the African continent.<br>Prior to Yellen's trip to Africa, on January 16th, 2023, China's new foreign minister, Qin Gang, concluded a visit to five African countries.
