The 2020 Garden Tour || Best Plants & Changes
Goodbye 2020! With the year coming to an end, I wanted to look back on the garden tours of 2020 and talk about what stood out most to me. Each garden tour is generally around an hour long, so I only picked a few key areas to talk about and show how they grew through the year. The biggest most impactiful parts of the garden for me this last year were the laurel burm with the giant tropical looking Petasites japonicus. Those monster leaves impressed and intimidated me every passing month. The banana trees were fun to look back on and see how those progressed month to month, same with the bikini tini colocasia. Those elephant ears grew and grew, filling in the garden bed within a matter of weeks from the heat of summer kicking in. The addition of the new ginger garden which include the cold hardy palms was a big area for me, I've wanted to get that area planted up for years! Likewise, the garden bed with the tradescantia and lemon coral sedum was a show stopper. With the back drop of the sunpatiens, chinese fan palms, croton and cordyline fruticosa, was a wall of color and contrast! My favorite planters of the year had to be the pool planters with the rainbow of petunias under the adonidia palms with those pretty pink variegated ti plants(C. fruticosa Kiwi) and the windmill palm planters with their gorgeous sweet potato vines and double impatiens. I could have gone on for hours about all the plants in the garden from 2020, especially if I had included the tropical plants and houseplants. I might do a different video on my top plants of 2020.
