Investigative reporter Luke Rosiak is the author of “Race to the Bottom: Uncovering the Secret Forces Destroying American Public Education.” He argues many American public schools took advantage of the pandemic to push through radical policies, like getting rid of standardized testing or switching to new, inflated grading scales. The purpose is to hide devastating teaching failures that have caused large swaths of American children, especially minority students, to fall woefully behind, Rosiak argues.
