How to Clean a Dishwasher after Melted Plastic - 5 Simple Steps
There are times when you carelessly arrange plastic items into the dishwasher's trays, making them susceptible to falling off the rack during the washing cycle.
This incident can cause the plastic to slip into the heating part of the dishwasher and melt, leaving an unpleasant odor in the dishwasher.
In this video, Ronin's Corner will show you how to clean a dishwasher after melting plastic with axetol. There are 5 simple steps:
- Step 1 (0:17): Remove the melted plastic from the dishwasher.
Wet a paper towel with acetol. Cover the towel with acetone on top of the melted plastic. Allow for about five minutes to allow the acetone to dissolve the plastic and any remaining plastic residue on the floor dishwasher.
- Step 2 (0:34): Wait for the melted plastic to come loose from the dishwasher floor. Use sanitary wipes inside the dishwasher.
- Step 3 (0:55): After acetol infuses melted plastic for 5 minutes, use a small knife to carefully remove the plastic from the floor dishwasher and wipe the stains.
- Step 4 (1:34): Reinstall Drawers and clips
- Step 5 (1:56): Run Dishwasher with Vinegar w/o heating element.

💡TIPS:
Do not place small objects, such as plastic lids, into the dishwasher. These can easily fall to the bottom and lie on the heating unit. Put all the other plastic boxes on the top rack of the dishwasher when stacking.
