Many skyscrapers are never finished. Bricklayers sometimes have to stop working during the construction phase because the budget is exhausted. Other times, something like a war or a political change puts the work on hold in the middle. Here is the list of the biggest skyscrapers that were never finished.

The ultra-tall skyscraper Nakheel Tower was proposed to be built in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The structure was previously supposed to be the world's first structure to reach a height of one kilometer. 200 floors would make up Nakheel Tower, which would be around 1,400 meters tall (precise height unknown). If constructed, it would surpass the Burj Khalifa in height as the highest structure in Dubai and the entire world.
The tower is not the tallest structure ever imagined in history, but it is regarded as the tallest structure whose construction started but was never finished.
Because Nakheel Tower is so tall, it will experience five distinct microclimates from top to bottom.
But after a year, in January 2009, the developer announced that the tower's construction would be suspended until they were in a better financial position to finish it. This was due to financial issues. The situation didn't get any better; rather, Nakheel Properties' financial issues grew as a result of Dubai World's 2009 debt standstill (Nakheel's parent company at the time), which led to the tower's cancellation in late 2009.Credit: BigBuilds
