We use Rain Bird® Pro sprinkler products in our yardscape because they are good quality and they are readily available at a reasonable price. Our favorite is the Pro 5000 gear-driven rotor sprinkler, with either a 1” or ¾’ canister bottom inlet.
Rain Bird® gear-driven rotor sprinklers have adjustable ranges. This is a great feature, but it’s confusing to many - it doesn’t need to be. The left edge of the range is fixed; with the adjustable arc going to the right. While not the topic of this video, DirtFarmerJay shows you how to set up and adjust these types of sprinklers in this additional episode:

In THIS video, DirtFarmerJay introduces a couple of great economical tools from Rain Bird® to assist with the rapid and accurate installation of the heads, as well as maintaining and servicing various Rain Bird® sprinkler products.
One tool is the Rain Bird® 232693S HOLDUPTOOL (no, that’s not a typo!), which levels the head to ensure water delivery. It also clips to the shaft of the extended sprinkler rotor shaft and keeps it open so you can access set screws and change nozzles if you like. The other is the PTC-1 Spray Head Pull Up Tool - used to service “pop up” type sprinklers. These specialized pliers are used to grasp and pull up the head out of the canister, then placed on the side to grip the shaft of the sprinkler, preventing it from retracting. This allows you to service the sprinkler without hassle.
Sure, you can call a professional sprinkler installation or maintenance professional - but why? Now you have some great tools that will help you JUST DO IT YOURSELF!
