Lexi Reed, 34, from Terre Haute, Indiana, has transformed her life, losing an astounding 320 pounds in just two years through exercise and cooking real food at home. Her remarkable journey is one of resilience, determination, and the power of sustainable, small changes that led to life-changing results.
At her heaviest, Lexi weighed 485 pounds and faced numerous daily challenges. “I struggled to breathe. I struggled to walk even a block,” she recalls. Simple tasks, like sitting in a restaurant booth, riding rollercoasters, or shopping for clothes, were out of reach. Lexi knew something had to change, but it was a challenge from her best friend, Cheyenne, that sparked her weight loss journey.

Cheyenne’s challenge was simple: "30 days of no eating out, no cheat meals, no alcohol, and no soda." Motivated, Lexi dropped 23 pounds in the first month, then went on to lose an astounding 312 pounds in the following two years, bringing her weight down to 165 pounds. She now comfortably wears a size 10.
"I ended up losing over 312 pounds in two years," Lexi says. "I battled a rare disease, put on over 100 pounds, then I lost over 120 pounds again. In total, I’ve lost 320 pounds—all with diet and exercise."
Despite the tremendous weight loss, Lexi's journey was far from easy. In April 2022, she was diagnosed with calciphylaxis, a rare disease that causes calcium and phosphate to build up in the blood vessels, leading to painful skin ulcers. The condition left her with 30 open wounds and an 80% mortality rate. Despite this, Lexi pushed through the pain with weekly wound care and 59 weeks of sodium bisulfate infusions.

Her perseverance paid off. "I'm currently in remission. I've been in remission for a year as of August, so I'm very lucky to still be here and alive," she says.
Lexi attributes her success to small, consistent changes. "I just started counting calories with MyFitnessPal and started making healthier versions of the foods I enjoyed, like Chinese food and fried foods," she explains. Her meals shifted from fast food to nutritious, home-cooked options, such as grilled chicken, sweet potato fries, and salmon with asparagus. These changes helped her adopt a healthier lifestyle.

“I go to the gym almost every day,” she says. “I enjoy working out compared to when I never hardly did anything active.” She now prepares her meals at home, opting for nutrient-dense foods like chicken, eggs, vegetables, and lean proteins instead of fast food.
Her transformation has not only impacted her body but also her outlook on life. “I’m more active with my husband, Danny,” Lexi says. “We do more things together instead of just sitting at home. We go hiking and traveling, which has helped us bond more.”
Lexi’s weight loss has also shifted the way people treat her. “I would say people are a lot more friendly to me now that I’ve lost weight,” she reflects. “I don’t feel so judged as I did when I was at my heaviest. I think I’m also not as shy and much more confident in myself now.”

While Lexi’s physical transformation is stunning, her story is about more than just weight loss. “It’s not about the weight you lose, but the life you gain,” she says. “I’m able to do so many more things than I could before. By losing weight, I’ve pretty much taken back my health and my life.”
Lexi’s journey proves that with persistence, small changes, and the right support system, anything is possible. Her story serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for anyone feeling stuck or overwhelmed by their own challenges.
