Trump: Taiwan a Major Topic in Xi Talks; China May Release Pastor Jin, but Jimmy Lai a ‘Tough One’

President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that China has agreed to buy 200 Boeing jets, with a potential commitment to purchase up to 750 planes. He added that the planes would have General Electric engines. The orders, if finalized, would mark Boeing's first major Chinese deal in nearly a decade.

President Trump also said he thinks Xi is seriously considering releasing detained pastor Ezra Jin in China, but that the case of jailed media tycoon Jimmy Lai "is a tough one." Lai was sentenced to 20 years in jail in what Amnesty International calls a "travesty of justice" and an attack on press freedom.
