U.S. and Russian Officials Meet in Saudi Arabia; 18 Injured After Plane Flips Over in Toronto

Senior U.S. and Russian officials met in Saudi Arabia today for high-stakes talks on improving ties and ending the war in Ukraine. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov led the discussions, paving the way for a Trump-Putin meeting. Ukraine was not included, and President Zelenskyy has rejected any outcome that excludes Kyiv.

Seventeen people are injured, three of them critically, after a Delta plane flipped over when landing at Toronto Pearson Airport. There are no reported fatalities, and authorities are still investigating the incident. Toronto at the time had strong winds after a weekend winter storm.

At least fourteen people have died in flooding across three different states, with twelve of those fatalities happening in Kentucky, one in Georgia, and one in West Virginia. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear called it one of the most significant natural disasters in a lifetime. Meteorologists are also predicting an arctic blast which is descending upon the U.S. on Tuesday, further complicating flood rescue efforts.
