Lemon: Under Legalist governance, people are deterred from wrongdoing through laws and punishment. In that case, people refrain from evil because they fear penalties. Likewise, if someone does good and avoids wrongdoing because they fear karmic retribution, they are acting out of fear rather than an awakening to goodness itself. Can such a person still obtain the key to enter the new universe?
Yu En Transmission: As long as one maintains kind thoughts and recognizes that "Falun Dafa is good," one can obtain the key to enter the new universe without changing one's faith or taking up Falun Dafa cultivation.
Lemon: Throughout the cycle of reincarnation, I believe I have owed debts to many other beings—more than I could ever count, and I cannot remember them. I feel very sorry for them; they must have suffered greatly. If I silently recite the nine-character phrase in my heart, would it help them? Could they be delivered or liberated because of it?
Yu En Transmission: In the long course of life, everyone may have had grievances, debts, and connections with other beings. Perhaps these have become the causes and effects that play out through reincarnation. It is even possible that some of the beings with whom you once had karmic ties are now around you.
We prefer to believe that, for those who are still living, maintaining kind thoughts and treating others well is the best way to resolve such relationships. More importantly, helping them carry out the Three Withdrawals, recognize that Falun Dafa is good, and obtain the key to the new universe would be the greatest gift you could offer them.
As for whether reciting the nine-character phrase benefits beings from past lifetimes, we do not know. We have not heard of it being used in that way. However, silently reciting the phrase in your heart can be very beneficial to your own energy field.

Lemon: Can I mentally recite "Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good" on behalf of my elderly relatives to help them obtain the key to the new universe?
Yu En Transmission: Although obtaining the key to the new universe is ultimately a personal choice, we believe your kind intentions and efforts will certainly receive blessings from righteous gods. You may recite "Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good" in your thoughts for your elderly relatives, and the part of them that understands can receive it.
If your elderly relative is simply advanced in age but still mentally clear, we recommend telling them directly, "Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good." Having them recite it themselves may be even more effective.

Yu En Transmission: It is not a matter of how many times you recite it, because what the divine looks at is a person's heart. Everyone's experience is different. Some people are more sensitive, while others are less so. If your mind is truly calm and sincere, you may feel energy flowing through your entire body after reciting it just once.
Falun Dafa is the Law of the Universe. Behind every word are countless Buddhas, Taos, and gods who can protect us. There is also no concept of dedicating merits afterward. Reciting the nine-character phrase can strengthen the positive energy within one's own energy field.
You can keep the nine-character phrase, "Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good," in your heart and recite it silently or aloud whenever it comes to mind.

However, we should clarify that Falun Dafa is not cultivated through reciting the nine-character phrase. Falun Dafa emphasizes improving one's moral character and understanding higher-level principles during cultivation, with the exercises serving as a supplementary means toward spiritual fulfillment.
Even if you are not currently cultivating, frequently reciting "Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good" may still be beneficial to both mind and body.
