Trump drops tariff hammer on 60 nations in huge America First crackdown

President Trump has unveiled sweeping new tariffs on imports from 60 countries, ramping up his America First trade agenda.

The administration said the measures target nations accused of failing to crack down on goods produced with forced labour.

The new levies, ranging from 10 per cent to 12.5 per cent, replace temporary tariffs and are backed by long-standing trade law.

Trump argues the tougher measures will protect American workers, strengthen manufacturing and punish unfair trade practices.
